A great Fox 10 News story on the first annual Interfaith Build with Habitat for Humanity!
On Sept. 11th and Oct. 18th of 2009, Saraland United Methodist Church took part in a very special community project. We were part of the first ever Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build in Mobile County. Many people came out to saw, hammer, lift and build a brand new house for a Mobile mother of 4. Trip Jennings and Auburn Hudgins organized this wonderful outreach into the community. If you are interested in helping Habitat for Humanity, visit their website at www.habitatmobile.org or call their Mobile office at (251) 476-7171.
What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based organization that builds simple, affordable homes in partnership with people in need. Because of Habitat’s no-profit, no-interest loans, and because homes are built primarily by volunteers, mortgage payments can be kept reasonable to those unable to obtain conventional financing for a home. Habitat homeowners are required to invest 300-400 hours of sweat equity, depending on family size, time spent building their own home and homes for other people. Call (251) 476-7171 for more information.
