The Greater Gulf State Fair is scheduled for October 23rd - November 1st. Make plans now to help with preparations for the fair and to work in our food booth. Sign up sheets will be posted soon.
We will be needing volunteers for cutting peppers and onions, making pizzas and working in the food booth. We have pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs (footlongs, too!), fries, chicken tenders and more at prices that are family friendly. Proceeds from this event go to missions, so please come out and support us. We'll see you at the fair!
Remember, all the proceeds from this event go to our Missions Program. Sign up sheets will be posted at the church beginning Sunday, October 4. You can sign up to work in the food booth, cut peppers and onions and/or make pizzas. The dates and times for cutting peppers and onions and making pizzas are listed below. Check your calendars and sign up soon!
CUTTING PEPPERS & ONIONS
Bring your favorite knife and a cutting board. We
will begin at 9 a.m. each morning.

MAKING PIZZAS
We will work at least 2 hours each time we
make pizzas. This involves lots of standing!

Since the middle 1950's, Saraland UMC has had a food booth at the Greater Gulf State Fair. Our first year at the Fair, Elvis Presley was the featured singer! Of course, his popularity was only beginning, but many at the church can still remember the occasion with notoriety. We have manned the booth each year with church members. Some of those members actually use their vacations to work at and manage the booth. In the early years, we used the profits to help our church programs; however, now all of the profits go to missions locally and around the world. This annual mission fund-raiser raises between ten to fifteen thousand dollars each year. We feel that we are truly a missions church!
