Mission Outreach

Saraland UMC ministers to the Saraland community not only as a
place of worship, but through many local organizations as well.

We sponsor Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and make our facility available to community groups, such as the Lion’s Club and the YMCA, as often as possible. Below are some of the ways you can get involved to help serve the Saraland and Greater Mobile Community.

St. Francis Street Mission
For years a team from our church has gone into downtown Mobile to feed breakfast to the homeless and poor. This team meets on the second Saturday of each month at 6:40 AM and travels to St. Francis Street United Methodist Church's soup kitchen at 15 Place. If you would like to assist this team one month please contact team coordinator Joyce Boshell by filling out the short form to the right.

Greater Gulf State Fair
For over fifty years, teams from our church have worked hard selling concessions at the annual Greater Gulf State Fair. All the proceeds from this project go to benefit missions locally and around the world. This annual mission fund-raiser raises between five to ten thousand dollars each year.  If you would like to volunteer to work in the fair booth, please let us know by filling in the form to the right.

Goodwill/
Easter Seals
Do you donate items to Goodwill? Goodwill Easter Seals has a program called the Good Samaritan Program. With this program, people with items to donate to Goodwill specify those donations to support a designated church/organization. After the donation is received, Goodwill Easter Seals (GES) provides the designated church/organization with store certificates redeemable for merchandise. Saraland UMC has joined the Good Samaritan Program. This will enable us to provide Goodwill store certificates to persons needing clothing and/or household items. If you have items to donate to Goodwill, please come by the church to pick up a Donation Referral Card. Give this card to the Goodwill employee that accepts your donation. The Donation Referral Card will be sent to the GES Administrative office and certificates in amounts proportionate to the donation will be sent to our church.
